World record-breaking coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure reaches construction milestone

After two years in the making, the final piece of a ground-breaking coaster has been put in place at a leading US theme park.

Taking prime position at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jersey Devil Coaster is set to shatter a multitude of outstanding records, including the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest single rail coaster.

 Key features include:

Exhilarating speeds of up to 58 miles per hour

Toe curling ascent to the summit of 130 feet lift hill

Intense 87-degree first drop

Two dramatic inversions including a 180-degree stall and zero gravity roll

Video goes behind the scenes to reveal the construction process of the hotly-anticipated coaster

As a single file ride, Jersey Devil Coaster is made up of four ultra-sophisticated trains which have the capacity for 12 passengers each.

The theming of the new attraction has been heavily inspired by iconic New Jersey mythology, as guests are immersed into a thrilling adventure to race against the infamous Jersey Devil who legend says has haunted the nearby Pine Barrens for centuries.

Commenting on the hottest new attraction John Winkler, President of the New Jersey theme park said:  “Six Flags Great Adventure is home to the best and most innovative roller coasters on the planet, and we are thrilled to expand our unrivaled collection with the Jersey Devil Coaster.

“Jersey Devil folklore has been a source of fear and intrigue here in the Pine Barrens for more than 200 years, and this iconic piece of New Jersey history inspired the design for this monstrous scream machine.”

Jersey Devil Coaster was originally slated to launch in the Summer 2020. However, due to the worldwide impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic construction for the highly anticipated attraction was subject to delay, with an opening date set to be revealed for 2021.

Jersey Devil Coaster isn’t the only Six Flags ride set to make waves in the attractions industry. The world-renowned theme park operator is currently designing the world’s fastest ever coaster, reaching speeds of more than 250 kilometres per hour at their site in Qiddiya.

Elsewhere, the National Museum of African American Music has opened in Nashville Tennessee.
