The ‘Millennial Walt Disney’ and her Museum of Ice Cream raises $40M

The young and bubbly founders of the Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC) are all set to take their ideas to the next level. They recently divulged their plans of taking this unique concept and replicating it across several locations throughout the US and beyond in the coming months. For this ambitious plan they’ve already raised $40M in capital funding. The first of its new and enhanced facilities will open in its flagship store in New York City later this year.

This planned New York facility in Soho will span an expansive area of 25000sq ft and will feature 13 new installations that have been designed by their in- house team of designers and architects. Some of the exciting offerings that visitors will witness here include a three storey slide, a colossal Queen Beehive, a floating table of delicacy desserts, and what will be MOIC’s largest-yet sprinkle pool. The facility will also be home to shops and cafes selling unique products.

The owners first came up with the idea of MOIC back in 2016 when opened in Manhattan momentarily. This was followed by exhibits across Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco where big names such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian dropped by from time to time to satisfy their desert cravings. Ever since then, it has received 1.5 million visitors to their facilities and temporary exhibits. MOIC is a unique concept with its cheerfully coloured and dazzling collection of confectionaries and ice creams that it has to offer to its visitors.

The young owner admitted that it’s always been a dream to take their initial MOIC concept to a gargantuan level and offer something along the lines of a “Walt Disney” of ice creams and cadies.

The young founder Maryellis Bunn revealed that the idea was born out of a realisation that the young lot or the millennials are rarely attracted by the traditional museum experiences and that they are more willing to spend on experiences that can be shared online across the several social media. Thus, the idea of MOIC was initially conceived. It is a museum of ice creams, candies and other confectionaries that has been designed in an extremely “Instagram friendly “manner with its hyper-visual exhibits such as those multicolour popsicles melting from the walls or that colossal pool of sprinkles. The museum has effectively introduced a novel cultural space.

The young founders Maryellis Bunn and Vora were able to raise $40 million in funding last week as established a new parent company for MOIC that goes by the name “Figure8”. From this point on, the owners believe the journey will be swift as they take their unique idea across the world. They have already been flooded by requests from various corporations who want in on the experience. They want branded experiums for their companies as the MOIC target the highly coveted young market of the millennial.
