Saudi Arabia’s first Museum of Happiness is enjoying opening success.
With much of the world living under restrictions because of COVID-19 the Riyadh museum promises to whisk visitors away from the tolls of life’s strains as they explore the feelings of happiness.
The museum features imaginative, multi-sensory exhibits using a range of colours, smells and music to stimulate the body’s happy hormones as visitors navigate through the 10 collections.
The vibrant exhibits are believed to replace the stress hormone cortisol with endorphins, oxytocin, and serotonin. The series of happy hormones encourage positive thoughts, boosts concentration and enhances relaxation.
The 45 minute experience is said to leave guests feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, armed with skills to combat future stressful situations.
The Museum of Happiness has proved hugely popular since opening earlier this month. The small-scale attraction welcomes on average 360 daily visitors, which rises to 400 on the weekend.
The opening of the Museum of Happiness is part of Saudi Arabia’s grand plans to become a tourism hotspot and less reliant on oil. In the last 20 years, the Kingdom has seen a surge in new museums.
