Rudding Park has announced a £1m investment in a new immersive golf-led visitor offer, led by the launch of The Great Yorkshire Golf Adventure and the repositioning of its Golf Academy under the new Gimme Golf brand.
The Harrogate hotel, spa and golf resort will open the 18-hole experience on Yorkshire Day, 1 August. The attraction has been designed around regional heritage, with each hole referencing well-known figures, historic sites and recognisable locations from across Yorkshire.
The investment also includes a new food and beverage space and upgrades to the resort’s golf facilities. For operators across hospitality, attractions and competitive socialising, the project underlines the growing commercial role of accessible golf formats within established leisure estates.
Rudding Park already has a broad golf proposition, including championship golf, TrackMan technology, short-course play, PGA coaching and custom fitting. The new format gives the resort a product with wider appeal, supporting group activity, day visits, informal participation and additional spend across hospitality areas.
Gimme Golf Repositions The Academy Model
As part of the investment, the Golf Academy is being rebranded as Gimme Golf, signalling a shift towards a broader social golf destination rather than a training-led facility alone.
The new brand has been developed to make golf feel more open, informal and group-friendly. This reflects a wider shift across the sport, where venues are expanding beyond traditional membership, coaching and course play to attract new audiences through technology, themed leisure and food and drink.
For the visitor experience sector, Rudding Park’s strategy is commercially relevant. Golf is being used as a flexible leisure platform that can support multiple customer types, from experienced players to casual social groups. The presence of TrackMan technology, short-course formats and adventure golf gives the resort a layered operating model, allowing different levels of participation within one destination.
Rudding Park’s leadership has linked the investment to long-term growth plans for the wider business. The resort sees golf as an important part of its guest experience, while recognising that demand is increasing for formats that are more sociable, accessible and entertainment-led.
Yorkshire Storytelling As A Design Driver
The Great Yorkshire Golf Adventure gives the Gimme Golf concept a strong regional identity. By building the 18-hole layout around Yorkshire’s heritage, Rudding Park is creating a place-led attraction rather than a standard adventure golf course.
This approach provides a clear point of difference in a competitive leisure market. Regional storytelling can support marketing, event programming, group sales and partnerships with local tourism bodies. It also gives the experience a stronger connection to the wider destination, helping the resort align its leisure offer with Yorkshire’s cultural profile.
For designers and operators, the project shows how themed golf can be used to combine light competition, narrative and hospitality. The format is likely to support social visits, corporate bookings and family-led group activity, while also drawing interest from resort guests and golf members seeking informal leisure options on site.
Hospitality As A Core Revenue Layer
The addition of a new food and beverage space is a key part of the £1m investment. Rather than positioning the attraction as a standalone activity, Rudding Park is placing hospitality at the centre of the Gimme Golf concept.
This is significant for operators assessing the business case for social golf and themed leisure. Food and drink can increase dwell time, raise secondary spend and make the venue more suitable for group bookings and private events. It also allows a golf-led facility to operate with stronger appeal during periods when traditional course play may be less central.
Rudding Park’s investment offers a useful case study in resort diversification. It combines brand repositioning, themed attraction design, technology-enabled golf, hospitality and regional identity within one capital project. As social participation continues to reshape the golf market, Gimme Golf points to a model where sport, storytelling and F&B are planned as a single visitor experience proposition.
