Roseland Waterpark Transforms into Drive-In Music Venue

For residents of Canandaigua, there will be a new way to enjoy live music this summer. The Roseland Waterpark has transformed into a drive-in music venue. The aptly named ‘Drive-In Live at Roseland’ will play host to live performances, starting this August.

The waterpark has reimagined the live music experience, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy live shows while following social distancing protocols. Guests will be allocated their own individual ‘tailgating zone’, roughly the size of two parking spaces, in which they will be allowed to exit their vehicle to better enjoy the music.

The live experience will have artists performing full sets, with large LED screens and speakers, meaning the show can be enjoyed from wherever guests choose to park. Guests are permitted to bring their own food and drink, although there are local vendors on-site, ready to deliver food contactlessly to vehicles. Food and drink purchased from vendors can be purchased online prior to the show.

The first show, taking place August 22, is Almost Queen. The show is billed as the most authentic Queen live show since the days of Queen themselves. Currently there are two further shows scheduled, the Dark Star Orchestra, and G. Love and Friends. Tickets can be purchased online now.

The Roseland Waterpark has outlined that the safety of guests, artists, crews, and staff is its top priority, and each event will fully comply with all social distancing measures, operating in accordance with the current New York State and Ontario County guidelines.

On July 13 the Roseland Waterpark made the announcement that it would not be reopening for the 2020 season. With limited guidance from the State of New York, bosses at the park decided that opening this year would not be feasible.

“We understand that we are all living in a difficult time and that tough decisions have to be made,” stated Roseland Waterpark General Manager Dan Fuller. “We respect the position of the State of New York and will continue to follow all guidelines. It will be sad to not be able to see all the smiling faces this summer.”

The decision to turn the waterpark into a live music venue follows a string of announcements of social distancing attractions. Last month a live show in Paris launched, in which guests sit in their own boat.

It has also been announced that a Halloween drive-thru experience will open this October in Orlando.
