In a significant development in the theme park industry, Real Madrid World officially opened its gates today in Dubai, marking a pivotal transformation of the venue from being the renowned Bollywood Parks Dubai. This new venture celebrates Real Madrid, declared the “Best Club of the 20th Century” by FIFA, offering an unprecedented sports-themed experience that promises to redefine entertainment standards and attract a global audience.
Located within the Dubai Parks and Resorts complex, Real Madrid World is the first theme park dedicated entirely to a football club. This innovative theme park includes the first-ever wooden coaster in the Middle East, Hala Madrid: The Coaster, which was installed in 2020 but has remained unopened until now. This coaster is set to be a major draw due to its unique construction and exhilarating ride experience.
The park’s transformation from Bollywood to Real Madrid themes is a rebranding and a complete overhaul of attractions. The former Taxi No.1 Zamperla family coaster has been reimagined as The Wave – La Ola, and the Rocket family drop tower is now thrillingly renamed Hands Up!. Additionally, the 460-ft-tall structure called the Bollywood SkyFlyer has taken new life as the Stars Flyer, enhancing the park’s appeal with these refreshed, adrenaline-pumping rides.
Real Madrid World also introduces several new attractions designed to immerse visitors in the spirit and history of the club. These include White Hearts, an interactive walkthrough exhibit that explores Real Madrid’s storied history; Bernabéu Experience, a theatre show that brings fans into the trophy room and locker room of the famed Santiago Bernabéu Stadium; and a VR simulator called The Factory of Dreams, that offers an unparalleled immersive experience.
Fernando Eiroa, CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment, emphasised the unique nature of this theme park, stating that the theme park celebrates worldwide love for the beautiful game and theme parks, creating a first-of-its-kind experience. He highlighted the park’s role in embodying Real Madrid’s winning spirit and its contribution to reinforcing Dubai as a leading global destination for tourism.
The rebranding from Bollywood to Real Madrid represents a strategic shift in marketing focus. While the Bollywood theme appealed primarily to Indian visitors, the new Real Madrid theme targets a broader European audience. This shift is expected to leverage the club’s extensive European fanbase and the strong connections between Real Madrid and Emirates, the Dubai-owned flag carrier which has sponsored the club since 2013.
This transformation follows the trend of successful theme park reimaginings, such as the transition of Circus World to Boardwalk & Baseball and Cypress Gardens to Legoland Florida. These examples illustrate how theme parks can successfully pivot to capture new audiences and rejuvenate their appeal.
Real Madrid World is positioned to significantly impact Dubai’s tourism sector by attracting visitors from Europe and around the world. A drive of just 40 minutes south of the Dubai International Airport, close to the Palm Jebel Ali, the park is conveniently situated for international tourists. It joins other attractions like Legoland Dubai and Motiongate Dubai, enhancing the Dubai Parks and Resorts complex.
As Dubai continues to innovate and expand its entertainment offerings, Real Madrid World is set to become a key player in the region’s tourism industry. By combining the universal appeal of football with state-of-the-art theme park entertainment, Real Madrid World offers a fresh and exciting destination that promises to draw visitors year-round, cementing Dubai’s status as a top global entertainment hub.
