Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs will join the Lightroom programme at Aviva Studios in Manchester this December, bringing Apple TV’s natural history series into a large-scale 360-degree projection format.
The experience will be presented at Aviva Studios, home of Factory International, and will use panoramic visuals, extended CGI sequences, illustration and spatial sound to place audiences inside prehistoric environments. The production draws on Apple TV’s Emmy-nominated Prehistoric Planet, with additional content created specifically for the venue format.

The production has been directed and designed by 59 Studio in close collaboration with the makers of Prehistoric Planet, Apple TV and executive producer Mike Gunton, Creative Director of the BBC Studios Natural History Unit.
The format combines selected sequences from the first two seasons of Prehistoric Planet with new CGI material and bespoke illustrations. This allows the experience to build on the documentary’s existing production value while extending it into a spatial format suited to shared viewing.
Narration by Damian Lewis provides a guided structure, while the music is based on an original soundtrack made by Kara Talve, Anâæe Rozman and Hans Zimmer for Bleeding Fingers Music. These creative elements give the production strong assets for marketing, programming and audience positioning.
The use of Lightroom’s 360-degree projection system allows prehistoric creatures to be presented at scale, including Tyrannosaurus rex, Mosasaurs, Ammonites and other species.
