Plans underway for £450 million film attraction at Pinewood Studios

A major British film studio is drawing up plans for a film-themed attraction, which will allow guests to go behind-the-scenes of where world-renowned movies have been made.

Pinewood Studios UK has been at the heart of the UK’s film industry for more than 80 years, which has seen the production of many classic series, including James Bond, Marvel and Star Wars films. More recently Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and OSCAR winning war film 1917 were shot at the historic studios.

Now Pinewood Studios officials are keen to let fans get a sneak peak of how their favourite films have been made.

The proposals are set to cost an eyewatering £450 million and cover a 350,000 square metre area at the Buckinghamshire facility. The studios currently has 23 stages, 3 TV studios and a permanent underwater stage.

The studios officials are remaining tight lipped of what to expect and which films will be included, however we do know the attraction will be titled ‘Screen Hub UK’. It is believed the new experience will include the chance to watch live production taking place.

Developers behind the incredible project are preparing the applications and are expected to start consultations with the council and local community within the next few weeks.

Speaking to The Sun Pinewood Group Chairman Paul Golding said: “The Government and Buckinghamshire LEP have recognised Pinewood Studios as a major economic asset to be enhanced with the creation of a screen growth hub for the UK.

“We are pleased to be able to respond with this scheme.  We have been looking at a visitor experience for some time and feel that now is the right moment to bring it forward.

“The project will strengthen UK film and bring much needed jobs and spending.  We hope our planning application will receive widespread support.”
