In a significant move that underscores the growing convergence of technology, entertainment, and guest engagement, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has partnered with creative innovation studio CONDUCTR to introduce Glow Court – the world’s first outdoor interactive LED sports court at sea. Set to debut aboard the upcoming Norwegian Aqua, the project represents a bold leap forward in how cruise operators are reimagining space and experience.
Glow Court isn’t just a headline-grabbing amenity – it’s a fully operational, marine-grade digital platform that redefines what active entertainment can look like in challenging environments. Installed on the ship’s top deck, the interactive court is built around a proprietary LED floor and adjacent wall that respond to player movements in real time – no wearables, handhelds or headsets required.

The technology behind Glow Court is as significant as its application. To deliver seamless interactivity outdoors, CONDUCTR developed a custom LED hardware system built specifically for maritime use: saltwater-resistant, impact-resistant, and fully weatherproof. This was coupled with a two-tiered motion tracking system – engineered in-house – that enables native guest interaction through spatial sensing and gesture tracking.
From an operational perspective, Glow Court is a multifunctional asset. Its software platform, also developed by CONDUCTR, enables the space to switch instantly between a range of experiences – from competitive sports drills and group fitness sessions to custom digital games and entertainment content. The platform is user-led, allowing guests to control the experience via an intuitive interface, while ship operators benefit from ease of scheduling, flexible usage, and modular content updates.

“Glow Court is the world’s first active entertainment platform of its kind,” said Peter Cliff, CEO and Co-Founder of CONDUCTR. “It’s designed to transform underutilised top-deck space into a dynamic, high-throughput experience that enhances guest satisfaction and drives engagement, without adding operational complexity.”
For cruise operators, this development points to a broader trend: the shift towards scalable, tech-enabled experiences that can deliver both guest value and operational efficiency. According to Jos Van Der Steen, COO and Co-Founder of CONDUCTR, the project was as much about durability and practicality as it was about innovation. “We had to rethink every component – from software architecture to hardware resilience – to ensure this system performs under continuous use in a marine environment. The result is a commercially viable solution that’s as robust as it is flexible.”
Glow Court is the latest product from CONDUCTR’s dedicated cruise division, bringing together software engineers, hardware specialists, media producers and experience designers to deliver end-to-end experiential solutions tailored for complex environments.

As the cruise sector continues to rebound and differentiate through elevated onboard offerings, Glow Court signals a new benchmark in experiential design – where digital infrastructure, physical space and guest interaction converge in a single, high-impact platform.
For industry stakeholders seeking ways to optimise space, elevate guest engagement and future-proof their experiences, Glow Court offers a clear case study in how immersive technology can be strategically deployed, even in the most demanding operational contexts.
