NEB’s Fun World in Oshawa is set to revolutionise the amusement park landscape with its latest announcement of a new attraction, SuperFly, described as a combination of a motion simulator and flying theatre. This thrilling new ride was first unveiled last November at the 2023 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo in Orlando, where it captured the imagination of theme park enthusiasts worldwide.

Located in north Oshawa, NEB’s Fun World, a sprawling 130,000 sq ft indoor family entertainment centre, has traditionally offered a variety of attractions, including a drop tower, bowling lanes, arcade games, and a play centre. However, the introduction of SuperFly marks a significant shift in the centre’s focus, aiming to attract a broader audience with this high-tech, immersive experience.

Developed by Triotech, a leader in interactive ride technology, SuperFly promises to deliver an unmatched sensory adventure. Riders will stand on motion platforms and engage in a dynamic journey enhanced by an amalgamation of aromas, gusts of air, water and windy effects, and leg ticklers, all designed to heighten the sense of immersion. This ambitious ride showcases a blend of advanced technology and creative storytelling that could set a new benchmark for indoor amusement experiences.

NEB’s Fun World’s President, Tom England, expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition, noting that the flexibility of the ride to adapt its thematic elements for different seasons and holidays—such as Halloween and Christmas—adds tremendous value, encouraging repeat visitation throughout the year. England remarked that SuperFly became a part of their selection to diversify their offerings, attracting more new visitors The versatility of changing the ride’s story depending on the season or event provides an ongoing allure that could see guests returning multiple times to experience something new.

Ernest Yale, CEO and founder of Triotech, describes SuperFly as a unique experience, boasting that it is the largest of its type in the world and the premier facility of its type in North America. While SuperFly is poised to be a unique attraction in North America, Triotech has previously showcased its novel theatre system at various expos, including a demo model at the 2022 edition of the European IAAPA Expo held in London. This global exposure hints at the potential widespread appeal and reliability of the technology behind SuperFly.

The announcement of SuperFly comes amid news of similar experiences emerging in major cities, such as one scheduled to open in 2025 at the CN Tower base in Toronto. These developments indicate a growing trend in the amusement park industry towards more sophisticated, immersive attractions that leverage technology to create deeply engaging visitor experiences.

As NEB’s Fun World prepares to welcome SuperFly, the anticipation builds not just among potential visitors but also among industry peers, who will be looking to see how such innovations might influence future developments in theme parks and entertainment centres worldwide.
