As England endures its second national lockdown, there isn’t much to do other than embark on a chilling Winter’s walk or a trip to the local supermarket.
However, the National Trust is keen to keep the people of England busy, by sharing that their spectacular gardens, parks and countryside sites will remain open throughout the lockdown period.
With more than 180 registered attractions nationwide, the news is expected to go down a treat with England residents – with outdoor sites originally closing through the UK’s first lockdown in March. The Trust is already exceptionally popular, welcoming 28 million visitors to sites across England in 2019.

As well as navigating through the charity’s exceptional outdoor spaces, the Trust has also promised to open takeaway food stalls, coffee huts and children’s play areas were safely feasible.
National Trust’s magnificent stately homes and other indoor experiences are temporarily closed in line with the latest lockdown measures.
To adhere to government guidelines, the Trust is encouraging those who would like to visit to book online to ensure the parks can follow social distancing.
Commenting on the news, Hilary McGrady, Director General of National Trust said: ‘We follow government advice and guidance at all times, in each of the nations we serve.
Adding: “We know how important access to green space, nature and fresh air are to people, and we’ll do everything we can to provide them during the next phase. Our priorities will remain the safety and wellbeing of visitors, staff and volunteers.”
Like other UK visitor experiences, 2020 has been an exceptionally challenging year for National Trust. In October, the Trust unveiled plans to cut 1200 jobs and save £124 million following a crippling year through COVID 19.
