The legendary Natural History Museum is preparing for its biggest exhibition of the year, which is set to be a masterpiece combination of breath-taking nature with J.K. Rowling’s mythical Wizarding World.
Through a collaboration between Warner Bros. Consumer Products , the Natural History Museum and BBC Studios Natural History Unit, Fantastic Beasts: The Wonders of Nature will debut later this year.
Potter fans and mammal enthusiasts will be able to explore the unparallel links between genuine living creatures and their mythical friends created by the internationally acclaimed author J.K. Rowling herself.
The captivating exhibition will include more than 100 items, which the curators are currently carefully developing. A dinosaur titled Dracorex Hogwartsia, inspired by the name of Hogwarts, will be a centrepiece of the exhibition.
The design team are now perfecting a collection of 120 exhibits
And the experience delves further than the Wizarding World theme, Fantastic Beasts: Wonders of Nature immerses guests into the rich history of the beliefs of creatures. By being whisked into the 16th century, guests will explore the time it was widely considered that unicorns were real, and monsters roamed the world.
As well as being lost in mythical history, visitors will apply nature and science to their imagination, which will enable them to learn how imaginary creatures have become the foundations for the best childhood stories ever to be told.
Commenting on the new immersive exhibition Clare Matterson CBE, Executive Director of Engagement at the Natural History Museum said: “We cannot wait to share this thrilling experience with our visitors. No sooner will they set foot inside that they will journey through magical realms and walk alongside some of the most fascinating creatures in the world.
“At the heart of this exhibition is a celebration of all the fantastic beasts we have the privilege of sharing our planet with, and the very real threats they face. Visitors will leave with a renewed love of the wonders of nature, and a revived urgency to help protect it.’
Fantastic Beasts: The Wonders of Nature will launch December 9, and cost £22 for adults and £13.25 for children. Tickets are set to go on sale on the Natural Museum website in November.
In other museum news, across the pond the first language museum Planet Word has opened in Washington D.C.
