We are excited to announce that Line of Duty: Operation Echo, a new immersive experience inspired by the popular BBC crime drama, will launch in London in early 2027. Created by interactive entertainment company CityDays, the experience will allow fans to become anti-corruption investigators and take part in a fictional police investigation across the capital.
The outdoor adventure will combine real-world exploration, interactive storytelling and escape room-style challenges. Players will travel between locations across London, gathering evidence, questioning information and making decisions that could influence the outcome of their investigation.
The experience is inspired by Line of Duty, the award-winning police drama created by Jed Mercurio, which follows the work of the fictional Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12).
London Streets Become an Interactive Crime Scene
Line of Duty: Operation Echo will take participants on a two-to-three-hour investigation covering approximately four to five kilometres of London’s streets.
Rather than following a fixed indoor escape room format, the experience will turn familiar city locations into elements of a developing criminal investigation. Teams will visit pubs, cafés, landmarks and other locations while following clues that lead them deeper into the case. Permanent features of the city, including statues, plaques and architectural details, will also become part of the challenges.
Players can expect to examine a variety of evidence, including CCTV recordings, fingerprints, forensic documents, financial records and personal diary entries.
The investigation will unfold through a combination of physical clues, video, audio and mobile phone messages, allowing participants to interact with characters and receive information as they progress. Puzzles, riddles and navigation challenges will test their investigative abilities, while difficult decisions will require teams to consider whom they can trust.
Choices made during the experience may alter the direction of the investigation and potentially lead to different outcomes.
Teams Compete to Uncover the Truth
Alongside its narrative-driven challenges, Operation Echo will introduce a scoring system that evaluates how successfully participants complete their investigation. Teams will receive scores based on their performance and final outcome, with results contributing to a leaderboard.
At the end of the experience, participants will receive personalised certificates displaying their scores, achievements and investigator personalities. Depending on their approach, teams could earn titles ranging from “Super Sleuths” to “Reckless Mavericks.”
CityDays founder Tom Rymer said the company is looking forward to bringing the television franchise into an interactive setting following its work on experiences inspired by Race Across the World and The Traitors.
The company has previously developed location-based adventures that combine entertainment with city exploration, including treasure hunts, murder mysteries and team-building activities.
Lou Black, Global SVP of Brand & Commercial Partnerships at Studio 55, said the new attraction will translate the television series’ themes of corruption, moral uncertainty and the pursuit of justice into an experience where audiences control the investigation.
The experience will be suitable for groups of friends, families, colleagues, and fans of the series. The waitlist opens on October 13, 2026, ahead of the planned early 2027 launch. Interested participants can register through the official website: https://lineofdutyexperience.com/
