Katapult takes destination design to the top deck

Katapult is taking destination design to the top deck at IAAPA Expo Europe, marking its 25th anniversary with a distinctive residency aboard the double-decker bus at the heart of the Experience UK Pavilion, stand S837. From this elevated meeting space, the team will share new thinking on how regional attractions can become higher-yield, multi-day destinations.

The starting point is what Katapult calls the four-hour ceiling. For many attractions, growth depends not only on drawing more visitors through the gate but on extending the time they stay and widening the distance they are prepared to travel. Integrating themed accommodation, evening activity and connected experiences can turn a day visit into an overnight proposition while creating new revenue opportunities.

Katapult will also focus on inclusive design as a foundation for resilient destinations. Its approach considers neurodiversity, sustainability, wellbeing, multi-generational play and the different ways guests move through a place. Alongside this, authentic stories and thoughtful IP collaborations can give new developments a clear identity and help existing attractions attract fresh audiences.

The company’s leadership, design and creative production teams will be available to discuss how these ideas translate into masterplans, attraction concepts and investable projects. The bus creates a fitting setting: a quieter vantage point above a busy show floor, designed for bigger conversations about growth. Meet Katapult through Experience UK at the UK Pavilion, stand S837, and explore what it takes to turn a regional attraction into a destination guests want to stay with for longer.

This thinking is especially relevant as construction and operating costs rise. A destination plan must create new value without losing sight of what makes the original attraction distinctive. Katapult’s proposition brings commercial strategy, guest insight and creative design into the same conversation, helping investment decisions reinforce one another over time.
