A popular Cheshire theme park is getting a massive extension, after £5.6 million plans have been approved.
For the first time ever, Gulliver’s World Warrington are giving families the chance to enjoy mini breaks at the park. The project will see the development of a new woodland area, which will include chalets and caravans to accommodate guests
The new 55,000 square metre area will also boast woodland walks, children’s activity area and a spa – perfect for relaxing after a jam-packed day at Gulliver’s.
Objections from residents
It has not been an easy process. After plans were submitting in March, 670 objections were made. Local residents cited concerns about the environment, traffic and noise levels. Some councillors have also expressed that the lanes leading to the theme park are ‘inadequate’ for accommodating tourer caravans and motorhomes.
However, the committee approved the proposals by a majority of just one. Officials from the council believe the economic impact of the new area will be far greater than environmental and social factors.
Hundreds of jobs
Once completed, the new area is expected to secure 220 jobs. Positions which will be available include an entertainment team, maintenance roles and hospitality staff.
It’s expected stays at the new woodland area will be offered as a package deal, which will also provide park entry for as many days as the guests’ desire.
Construction is expected to start early 2021.
