A large entertainment and tourism complex in central Vietnam has cleared an important regulatory stage after Gia Lai province approved the conversion of more than 191 hectares of planted protection forest.
The decision supports the delivery of Cultural, Sports, Entertainment, Commercial Services and Tourism Complex No. 1, a 308.2-hectare development led by Blooming Sky Co., Ltd. The project carries an estimated investment of almost VND2.6 trillion, equal to around $98.74m.
The development is linked to a company associated with K-pop industry figure Lee Soo Man, adding a strong cultural export dimension to the scheme.
Culture, Events And Tourism As Growth Drivers
Gia Lai authorities have positioned the project as a significant step in building the province’s cultural economy and raising its profile as a Southeast Asian visitor destination.
The complex is planned to connect art, entertainment, sport, commercial services and tourism within a coastal setting. Once operational, it is projected to attract around 1.2 million international visitors each year, with a focus on higher-spending markets.
For destination developers, event operators and experience suppliers, the project highlights the growing use of music, performance and cultural programming as anchors for large tourism developments.
Infrastructure And Environmental Considerations
The site sits along the coast, with the East Sea to the east and an existing coastal road to the west. Its boundaries include sand dunes, casuarina plantations and a nearby high-tech shrimp farming area.
Blooming Sky’s environmental impact assessment notes existing transport access and local support, but also identifies gaps in current infrastructure. Further work will be required on drainage, irrigation and integration with existing local systems.
For firms working in masterplanning, environmental design, utilities, transport, crowd movement and coastal resilience, these requirements point to a complex delivery programme beyond core entertainment facilities.
Wider Investment Pipeline Emerging
The project was first approved by Gia Lai’s provincial government in November 2025. A second related development is also under discussion, following an investment cooperation memorandum between the province and Blooming Sky.
That second complex is estimated at VND5.8 trillion, or around $220.26m. Together, the developments could form part of a much larger 700-hectare cultural and tourism district.
Local officials have also referenced plans for a 100-hectare mega-concert venue and regular international-scale music events. This would place live entertainment at the centre of the province’s destination strategy.
Relevance For The Global Experience Sector
For the visitor experience industry, the Gia Lai project reflects a broader trend across Asia, where entertainment, tourism, cultural production and regional development are being planned together from the outset.
The scheme could create demand for expertise in venue design, festival operations, ticketing, guest services, F&B, accommodation, transport planning, security, technical production, sponsorship and destination branding.
It also shows how music-led tourism can be used to reposition emerging regions for international audiences.
