Officials at French attraction Futuroscope have announced plans to open themed hotels and an indoor water park. The water park will be a separate ticket attraction, and will be open year-round. The new attractions are expected to open in 2024, following around £100 million of investment, in the hope of attracting 2.5 million visitors annually.
After several months of deliberation, concrete milestones are about to be set for the design and construction of the new indoor aquatic park. “We will offer an aquatic experience like Futuroscope. These will be different things from what exists in this type of park. Obviously there will be slides to offer “sensation sliding” for those who love, but also for children, and relaxation areas. All with the “Futuroscope” button!”, said Laure Mosseron, Marketing and Communication Director at Futuroscope.
Guests will have the opportunity to purchase packaged tickets, to enjoy the different attractions Futuroscope has to offer. Guests will also soon be able to stay for an extended period of time at the park, at one of 2 new hotels. The experiential hotels aim to be hyper sophisticated in their decoration. “We want to develop a themed offer, to really get people into our universe”, Laure said.
In the 1990s the park attracted visitor numbers upwards of 3 million, and the aim for the redevelopment of the attraction is to reach these levels once again. “We were thinking of crossing the two million mark this year, that will not be the case. The idea is to exceed this figure and go further by 2025”, said Laure.
The two new hotels, water park, and restaurant will be built on the current car park for the site and the space between the conference centre and the current site. The development will also help create 450 permanent jobs, along with over 400 seasonal positions.
While guests eagerly await the new attractions, Futuroscope has invited people to send in fun videos of themselves imitating the sensations of the future roller coaster, Objectif Mars. The park is scheduled to reopen in early July, following the easing of some COVID-19 restrictions.
