Disneyland Paris delays reopen date to April due to Europe’s ‘prevailing conditions’

Disneyland Paris delay 2021 reopening date due to COVID 19 cases continuing to surge across France and its neighbouring countries.

As France’s biggest theme park, Disneyland Paris was forced to close October 28 2020 due to President Emmanuel Macron ordering the country into its second national lockdown.

Initially officials hoped to reopen both Walt Disney Studio Park and Disneyland Park for the peak Christmas period, before closing again until February 2021. However, the resort has yet to welcome guests since October.

As Europe continues to struggle to weather the pandemic Disney has further pushed the reopening date until at least April 2.

Disneyland Paris will now work closely with the French Government to seek the greenlight to reopen the parks when its safe to do so for both staff and guests. Under French law, all leisure attractions including theme parks nationwide are currently closed.

A statement from the park read: “If conditions permit, we will reopen Disneyland Paris on April 2, 2021 and will welcome reservations from that date forward. Given the current context our plans continue to evolve, but please know that we will make every effort to share with you any updates as soon as it is possible.”

A brighter future

There’s much to look forward to when Disneyland Paris does reopen, including a new Marvel-themed land titled Avengers Campus. The land will include a Spiderman Sling-Shot attraction and Iron Man Adventure, which has been reimagined using the classic Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster track.

Buzz Light Year Laser Blast has also been treated to a next-generation refurbishment ready for the reopening, with the resort’s second Cars-inspired attraction, Route 66 Road Trip set to also launch this year.
