Last month saw the launch of the London Cultural Attachés Circle, an initiative co-initiated by Culture Connect founder Anaïs Aguerre and Catalina Herrera Acuña, Cultural Affairs and Press Attaché at the Embassy of Chile in the United Kingdom. The event host at the Design Museum was extremely well received by the cultural diplomatic community.
Managed by Culture Connect, the Circle responds to London’s unique diplomatic landscape, where over 190 embassies and national cultural centres are based. While cultural attachés play a vital role in fostering international exchange, they often operate independently. The Circle offers a neutral, professionally facilitated space for cultural diplomats to connect, exchange expertise, and strengthen collaboration across borders.
Building on this successful launch, the Circle recently held its second gathering, a Peer Spotlight event co-hosted with the Korean Cultural Centre UK and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United Kingdom, titled K-Culture Unwrapped. The evening brought together cultural diplomats, scholars, cultural leaders and policy makers to explore the success of Korean cultural diplomacy.
Participants had the opportunity to exchange with peers, expand professional networks, and enjoy Korean food and drinks in an informal and welcoming setting. The programme featured insightful contributions from Dr Seunghye Sun, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre UK; Professor Youngjin Yoo of the London School of Economics; and Diane Min, Head of European Content Sales at CJ ENM. Their complementary perspectives offered the audience a nuanced understanding of the drivers behind Korea’s global cultural influence. A recording of the session will be shared shortly.
Through initiatives such as the London Cultural Attachés Circle, Culture Connect continues to deepen its expertise and expand its network at the intersection of culture, diplomacy and business. This work reflects our broader advisory practice: designing and facilitating trusted spaces for dialogue, exchange and collaboration across the international cultural sector, and supporting organisations and institutions to navigate and strengthen their global relationships.
