Construction for a major waterpark which is set to be one of the largest in Northern Europe has commenced.
Located in Gothenburg Sweden, the development for Oceana is now underway and is scheduled to be completed in just over three years – with the project expected to cost just over £90 million.
The highly-anticipated water experience has been in the pipeline since 2017 – and was given much good news when Liseberg’s Board of Directors signed the deal with contractor NCC to bring the visions for Oceana to life.
Liseberg is already a popular amusement park in Gothenburg, which has been welcoming guests for almost 100 years. As well as Oceana waterpark, the themed attraction is also seeing the development of Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel as part of its ambitious expansion.

Oceana isn’t set to be the ordinary waterpark, with designers taking inspiration from Gothenburg’s rich Scandinavian heritage and Liseberg’s DNA to create a bespoke setting for the experience.
The waterpark will also feature 10,000 square metres of swimming space, where guests can either relax in tranquil indoor beaches or get their adrenaline needs fulfilled on the ample of daredevil aqua attractions.
When opening, the park is set to feature 14 slides and attractions – which Liseberg has promised to be added to as Oceana flourishes on Europe’s waterpark stage.

Excitedly commenting on the commencing of the development, Liseberg’s Chairman of the Board Christer Holmgrem said: “This is exactly what the destination Gothenburg needs to get the tourism industry back on track after the Corona crisis.
“The water park will be able to receive half a million visitors a year and generate 185,000 extra guest nights to the city. It will give new life to an ailing industry.”
Construction for Oceana is set to be completed by 2024.
