Chimelong Group and Chinese embodied AI company AgiBot have opened what is being described as the world’s first large-scale embodied AI theme park at Chimelong Spaceship Park in Hengqin, Zhuhai.
The project marks a major step for the use of robotics in cultural tourism, with more than 300 AgiBot robots deployed across the attraction on opening day. The park integrates embodied AI with visitor operations, entertainment, retail support, education and hotel services, giving the technology a live commercial setting rather than a controlled demonstration environment.
For theme park operators, technology suppliers and visitor experience designers, the launch is significant because it places human-robot interaction at operational scale. Rather than using robots as isolated show elements, the project distributes them across more than 100 interaction points and seven core use cases.
Seven Operating Scenarios Create A Testbed
The new AI-led offer covers entertainment and commercial performance, science education and study tours, tour guidance and shopping assistance, service and retail stations, intelligent tour companions, hotel services and sports competitions.
Opening activity included a large human-robot dance performance and what has been presented as the first robot aerial acrobatics performance. AgiBot models that achieved top rankings at the World Humanoid Robot Games are also expected to appear regularly, giving the park a programme of robot-led demonstrations with a competitive technology narrative.
For B2B audiences, the range of scenarios is one of the most important features. It allows operators and technology partners to test reliability, guest response, scheduling, maintenance needs, crowd interaction and commercial value across different service points.
The use of 5G-A-enabled embodied AI also gives the park a technology infrastructure layer that supports real-time interaction and device coordination. In a visitor attraction setting, this type of network capability can be critical for managing multiple robots across complex guest environments.
Chimelong Spaceship Park Provides A High-Volume Setting
The project has been launched inside Chimelong Spaceship Park, which focuses on space exploration and marine ecology education. Since opening, the venue has attracted more than 10 million visitors, making it a major family destination within China’s cultural tourism market.
This existing visitor base gives the embodied AI park a high-frequency operating environment. For robotics companies, such settings are valuable because they generate practical feedback and usage data that cannot be replicated in laboratory conditions.
Technology observer Xiang Ligang has noted that the project’s value lies not only in placing robots inside a theme park, but in giving embodied AI repeated exposure to varied, real-world guest interactions. This is important for product refinement, service design and future deployment across wider public environments.
China Positions Itself For AI Tourism Applications
Chimelong has indicated that overseas theme park robotics has often remained limited to small pilot activity, making regular commercial operation harder to achieve. By contrast, China’s large domestic tourism market, manufacturing base and digital infrastructure are creating favourable conditions for broader robot deployment.
The China Embodied Intelligence Industry Development Report 2026 estimates that the country’s embodied intelligence market has grown from about 213.3 billion yuan in 2018 to an estimated 1.09 trillion yuan in 2026, with compound annual growth of around 22 to 23 per cent.
For investors and operators, this growth suggests that embodied AI may become a more active part of destination planning, especially in markets with strong technology supply chains and high-volume leisure venues.
Implications For Visitor Experience Operators
The Zhuhai project offers an important case study for the global attractions sector. If robots can support entertainment, guidance, retail, education and hotel operations at scale, they may become part of future staffing, interpretation and guest service strategies.
However, large-scale deployment will need careful planning around safety, reliability, accessibility, maintenance, staff integration and brand fit. For operators, the strongest opportunities are likely to come where robotics adds clear value to storytelling, service or operational efficiency.
Chimelong and AgiBot’s collaboration shows how embodied AI can move from demonstration to daily operation within a themed environment, setting a benchmark for technology-led visitor experience development.
