A Northern theme park has been awarded the most prestigious recognition from an internationally renowned attraction awards.
The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) honours the most talented professionals, acclaimed experience projects and next generation technologies in the worldwide attractions industry – with TEA unveiling Blackpool Pleasure Beach as the winner of its legendary Thea Classic title in its 27th annual awards.
Opening just shy of 125 years ago, Blackpool Pleasure Beach brims with the seaside town’s rich history. TEA explains: “It stands among few comparables in the world of themed entertainment, connecting the industry’s past and future by thriving through more than a century of cultural, social and technological change.”
It maybe one of the oldest theme parks in the world, and survived two world wars, but Blackpool Pleasure Beach certainly still takes front row on the global experience stage.
The attraction now features 38 rides, including the legendary The Big One, exhilarating Infusion and spine-tingling Big Dipper – along with an abundance of family shows and walk-through attractions.

TEA also prides Blackpool Pleasure Beach on “having a surviving collection of vintage rides” with some of these being the “last remaining types of their kind in the world.”
The historical Northern theme park has done exceptionally well to be awarded such a prestigious title, with TEA admitting they receive hundreds of nominations each year – as the Thea Awards Committee going through a lengthy process to decide on a final winner.
Bourne Stuntacular at Universal Studios Orlando, Sesame Street at PortAventura World Spain, and Jewel Airport Singapore were amongst the attractions being recognised with the TEA Award for Outstanding Achievement, along with 13 other recipients and two additional awards.
