£3.5 Billion The London Resort leaps forward in planning process

The UK’s hottest new attraction has leaped forward in its planning process, after passing the first phase of the Government’s Planning Inspectorate.

Late last year (December 31) officials behind The London Resort submitted its planning to the UK government. The proposal highlighted how the former industrial site can be transformed into one of the most spectacular theme parks in the world. Backed with independent research, the application revealed the following benefits:

Generate income of an eyewatering £50 billion over the first 25-year period

Creation of 6000 construction jobs

48,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs will be created by 2038, making it one of the single biggest employers in the UK

An additional goal of up to £200 million in tax revenues generated by 2038

The full report contained an eyewatering 25,000 pages of reports, assessments, and evaluation. Now less than a month later (January 28) The Planning Inspectorate has accepted the report and will now hand over to the Secretary of State for further examination.

The new phase is expected to take over a year to complete.

The news has come as a huge relief for the brains behind The London Resort, who have highlighted it as the biggest milestone for the ultra-ambitious project so far.

Commenting, PY Gerbeau CEO of The London Resort said: “It’s taken an enormous effort from everyone involved to get to where we are today. I want to thank the home team, our investor, our partners and people who supported us for their dedication and incredible commitment.

“We have always said our ambition is to build much more than just a theme park. It will be a beacon of world class entertainment and experiences within a world-leading sustainable environment.

“We still have a long way to go and we are very much looking forward to working with the Planning Inspectorate over the coming months.”

If plans go as expected, The London Resort is set to cost an eyewatering £3.5 billion to develop and will open in 2024.
