Although the event will still be known as Expo 2020 Dubai, the official dates for the largest event ever staged in the Arab world have been officially changed to 01 October 2021 – 31 March 2022. The positive to take from the postponement is that the project’s timeline has now been elongated.
Opportunities still lie in sectors such as creative, technology, smart cities, food and drink, education and renewable energy, with new opportunities expected in the healthcare, life sciences and security sectors according to DIT resources.
Businesses are now beginning to return to a more normal pattern in UAE, with some airports beginning to operate and shopping malls opening at 100% capacity once again. As the country begins its journey to the ‘new normal’, tenders are beginning to surface for Expo 2020 Dubai, with many opportunities for UK companies to offer their services to pavilions from around the world.
Recently the Spanish Pavilion released a tender for the production of their audiovisual content, illustrations and APP, with the tender still live with a closing date of 20 July 2020. There are also several opportunities released by the Expo Bureau, encouraging UK exporters to tender.
Meanwhile, work continues at pace on the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and its associated programming and campaign activity. The roof of the main building at the UK Pavilion is now in place, steelworks supporting the iconic façade structure have been fitted and electrics are being installed to power the events space.
The Department for International Trade is now looking forward to welcoming UK companies in the UAE and globally to participate in the six month cultural, educational, tourism and business events programme, highlighting UK expertise to millions.
