TIMEWALK, a major new immersive cultural exhibition from DEM Museums, will open at Immerse LDN at Excel Waterfront in July 2026.
The experience will take visitors through some of the most significant ancient civilisations in human history, including Göbeklitepe, Babylon, Ancient Egypt, the Maya and Rapa Nui.
Designed as a walk-through immersive journey, TIMEWALK uses large-scale audio, visual and spatial storytelling to present history as a full-scale experience, rather than a traditional object-led gallery format.
Ancient Civilisations Presented At Full Scale
TIMEWALK begins with Göbeklitepe, widely associated with early communal gathering, ritual and shared belief. From there, the experience follows the development of civilisation across different cultures, exploring themes of urban life, knowledge, spirituality, astronomy, monuments and collective memory.
Visitors will move through scenes that recreate ancient cities, temples, landscapes and daily life, from the Nile at sunset to the gates of Babylon. The aim is to help audiences understand these societies not only through facts, but through atmosphere, scale and emotional context.
The experience is grounded in archaeological research and delivered through cinematic storytelling, soundscapes, visual effects and narration.
Inclusive Storytelling For International Audiences
A 25-language audio guide will support the visitor experience, helping make TIMEWALK accessible to international audiences in London.
This multilingual approach reflects DEM Museums’ wider ambition to present cultural heritage to global visitors with clarity, care and accessibility.
TIMEWALK is designed for audiences of different ages and backgrounds, offering a shared route into the ancient world through space, sound, image and story.
DEM Museums Expands Its International Work
TIMEWALK is created by DEM Museums, the team behind experiential cultural destinations including the Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum and the Ephesus Experience Museum.
DEM brings 35 years of experience in visual and auditory technologies, with involvement in 18 museums and cultural complexes. Its work on the Hagia Sophia and Ephesus Experience Museums has received 15 international awards.
Eda Bildiricioglu, CEO of DEM, has described the project as part of the organisation’s responsibility to present ancient heritage accurately while using contemporary storytelling methods to help visitors build deeper connections with history.
A New Cultural Experience For Immerse LDN
TIMEWALK will open at Immerse LDN, Excel London Waterfront’s entertainment and culture district, which has welcomed more than 1.7 million visitors to date.
Excel London and Immerse LDN’s Immersive Entertainment Director, Damian Norman, has welcomed the collaboration with DEM Museums, noting the company’s expertise in technology-led cultural storytelling and the role of Immerse LDN in bringing major immersive experiences to London.
For DEM Museums, TIMEWALK marks an important new international chapter. For London, it adds a large-scale cultural experience focused on world heritage, ancient history and immersive interpretation.
The exhibition will be located at Immerse LDN on the Excel London Waterfront, with strong transport links supporting access for domestic and international audiences. For DEM Museums, the launch represents a major international step, while for London’s experience sector it adds another large-scale cultural attraction to the capital’s growing immersive entertainment offer.
