The world’s longest glass bridge opens as a tourist attraction in China

The world’s longest glass-bottomed bridge has opened in Southern-China.

The project, by Architectural Design & Research Institute of Zhejiang University, has been officially recognised by the Guinness World Records, as being the world’s longest glass bridge at 526 metres.

Breath-taking views of rural China

Erected purely as a tourist attraction, the glass-bridge invites thrill seekers to enjoy views of the Huangchuan Three Gorges as they navigate between both sides of the bridge.

The suspension bridge is an eyewatering 200 metres high, with a surface of just 15 centimetres. A stroll across the longest glass-bottomed bridge definitely isn’t for the faint hearted.

The layers have been carefully crafted using three layers of ultra-transparent tempered laminated glass, which have been designed to provide an incredibly clear view of the Lianjiang River, which lies below.

Photo opportunities

The attraction expands into four viewing areas where visitors can absorb the panoramic scenery and capture photos of the amazing experience. Its also enclosed by steel railings, so no need to worry about losing your phone or camera.

The bridge can hold up to 500 guests at any one time.

Glass bridges have fast become a phenomenon in China, with a 2019 report indicating there is more than 2300 of them in the country.
