Second Church of Scientology to be added to the Scottish Community

Although the Church of Scientology lost a bid to the French Consulate in an effort to take over one of Edinburgh’s areas in 2017, rumour has it that the controversial church is planning to open a new facility in the Scottish capital again. The targeted location is the West End or Murrayfield area, with the date set for later this year or in early 2021.

The Scientology ideology recognizes that there exists an accurate path that illustrates a specific and complete understanding of a person’s true spiritual makeup and one’s relationship to self, family, groups, humanity, the material universe, all life forms, the spiritual universe and the Divine Being. However, the ‘religion’ has come under attack almost all over the world for its perceived cult-like rituals.

There already exists a Church of Scientology centre in Edinburgh – the Hubbard Academy of Personal Independence – located in South Bridge. The new planned facility will be the second in Scotland.

Other Churches of Scientology are currently supporting various global humanitarian initiatives and affiliated social betterment programs. And this step to expand in Scotland is being looked upon as a way to make a difference there.

Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, conducted research that revealed incomparable drug rehabilitation solutions to the world. This research provoked the Church and Scientologists to formulate the ‘Truth About Drugs’, a program through which they have informed millions regarding the truth about drugs. The Church and its members are devoted to demolishing drug abuse by educating and inviting everyone who is committed to aiming a drug-free world.

During his early research, Ron Hubbard proclaimed that spiritual freedom and enlightenment were unachievable goals for individuals who denied their most basic human rights. Ron put together the foundation for what is now a global movement to advocate the human rights of all people, regardless of their ethnicity, religious affiliation or social condition.

Currently, Scientologists across five continents operate in collaborative efforts along with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to produce widespread awareness and practice of the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is the world’s primary human rights document.

The church that exists in Edinburgh is committed to saving lives through drug rehabilitation and prevention. Narconon, was founded in 1966 by a prisoner who utilized the writings of Rob Hubbard to help end his decade long drug addiction.

Narconon today is composed of a worldwide network that daily aids people recover from the vice of drug addiction. The drug-free drug prevention and rehabilitation methods devised by Narconon consist of a defined treatment that removes drug residues from the body with procedures to lessen the mental and physical suffering that manifest as a result.

Not only does Narconon resolve the devastating effects of drug addiction on the body and mind, but also addresses the causes behind this dependence on drugs. The program has benefited thousands of individuals, and Narconon has impacted the lives of many through its drug education and prevention programs. Till date, it has impacted the lives of 16 million individuals.

Scientology believes that real freedom cannot be achieved in a world composed of substance abuse and drug addiction, therefore, the Church of Scientology in Edinburgh is a step in the right direction with dedicated programs that will proactively address this social issue.
