Saudi Arabia’s first female-only waterpark opens at Dana Bay

A new waterpark has opened in Saudi Arabia with a distinctive twist, making it unique to visitor experiences all over the world.

Based at Dana Bay, Loopagoon features 11 rides and attractions, including a lazy river, a 14 metre tornado tunnel and two adrenaline-filled twister slides, which will span across 1.5 hectares of the Red Sea’s stunning beachfront.

Sounds like a standard waterpark, right? Well Loopagoon’s owners decided to make the new aqua attraction unique in its offerings and is said to be the world’s first waterpark exclusively for women.

As well as respecting Saudi Arabia culture by making the park female-only, Loopagoon’s developers Dana Bay and Jenan Real Estate were briefed to pull out all the stops to design the experience specifically with women in mind.

The locker rooms are state-of-the-art, featuring spacious baby stations, a dressing area, towel rentals and power showers. Tall walls also surround Loopagoon, ensuring a private experience for both women and their children. Additionally, all 140 front-of-house staff are all female.

A statement on the Loopagoon website reads: “Loopagoon Water Park is proud to be part of this wave of change in our country. It is a point of great pride for us to be the first Water Park exclusively for women in this country! We fully intend for our park to be THE spot for rest and relaxation for every woman and girl here, where they can frolic and take some time for themselves in a space that they can always consider their own.”

Elsewhere, the world’s largest water fountain is set to launch in Dubai.
