With the magnificent Tuwaiq Mountains standing sentinel, Qiddiya City is gearing up to revolutionise the motorsport experience. The unveiling of the Speed Park Track marks a new chapter in the kingdom’s ambition to position itself at the zenith of international motorsport, blending adrenaline-pumping racing with spectacular natural scenery.
Designed by the discerning minds of drivers for the fierce hearts of competitors, the Speed Park Track is a jewel in Qiddiya City’s crown. This sprawling motorsport hub is part of Saudi Arabia’s grand vision to transform Qiddiya into a pulsating destination for entertainment, sports, and culture, underpinned by the ‘power of play’.
The driving force behind this project, Qiddiya Investment Company, has announced that the new track is not merely a venue but a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s motoring aspirations. Its configurable nature, paired with state-of-the-art technology and customer-centric experiences, promises to host a stellar array of the world’s most remarkable racing spectacles.
Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company, encapsulated the essence of the project: “The Speed Park Track will position Qiddiya City as the home of Saudi motorsport… Visitors and spectators will be treated to one of the most unique race experiences in the world.”
The track, a product of the visionary collaboration between Alex Wurz, an Austrian ex-Formula One driver and Hermann Tilke, one of the world’s most renowned circuit designers, is a masterpiece of motorsport engineering. With 21 corners and an impressive elevation gain per lap of 108m, the track promises to deliver unparalleled racing action. Its crowning glory, the “Blade” at turn one, soars over 20 stories, commanding awe and admiration.
The Speed Park Track is meticulously integrated with Qiddiya’s myriad attractions, ensuring that the thrill of motorsport is inextricably linked with the exuberance of cultural and entertainment pursuits. Here, the exhilaration of the racetrack meets the rhythm of music venues and the screams from the tallest rollercoaster in the world, the Falcon’s flight, located right there at Six Flags, Qiddiya City.
The design goes beyond mere aesthetics; it embodies a philosophy where motorsport enthusiasts can revel in a multifaceted viewing experience, with terraces and vantage points that make each spectator feel like part of the action.
The unveiling of the Speed Park Track follows on the heels of the announcement of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium and the Qiddiya City Gaming & Esports District, cementing the city’s reputation as a burgeoning hub for play and sports.
Qiddiya’s commitment to the ‘power of play’ is not just about building facilities; it’s about nurturing human development and fostering social cohesion. It leverages the innate human need for play to bridge gaps, enhance empathy, and foster community spirit.
As the world turns its eyes to Qiddiya City, we witness a bold step forward. The Speed Park Track stands not just as a racing circuit but as a harbinger of the future—a future where play, sport, and cultural interaction are seamlessly woven into the fabric of society, enhancing lives and leaving a lasting legacy.
