A major virtual reality experience is coming to Shanghai Disney Resort.
Opening at Disneytown, the interior of the vibrant Lakeshore Building is set to be transformed into a large-scale virtual reality and entertainment space.
The new experience is expected to be the most immersive attraction offered at Disneytown, using ground-breaking technology to engage guests with the magical brand like never before, through augmented reality simulations and multi-sensory platforms, ultimately enriching the Disneytown experience.
The new VR experience will be available from the shores of Wishing Star Lake, as guests take a break from the resorts magical shopping, dining and entertainment experiences which opened in 2016.
Disneytown features 15 restaurants offering a variety of worldwide cuisine, from Chinese delicacies to American classics. A range of Disney-themed merchandise stores are also housed at the resort, along with international favourite chains Build-a-Bear, Adidas and the largest LEGO store in the world.
The new virtual reality development is a collaborative project between Shanghai Disney Resort and award-winning Chinese VR designers SoReal, who have a rich portfolio of designing technological shows and experiences across Asia.

As of yet, a name for the VR experience is yet to be revealed. Its expected to be open in 2021.
Elsewhere, a Mario themed café and store has opened at Universal Resort Japan.
