Opening of Tornado Springs Postponed Until 2021

Paultons Park has been forced to postpone the opening of their new Tornado Springs attraction. Originally scheduled to open on May 19th, the park is to remain closed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 1950s Americana-styled park will feature brand new rollercoasters, rides and shops, and is now scheduled to open in 2021. The fictional midwestern land at Paultons Park will house eight new rides, along with a Peppa Pig World. It will also be the home of the UK’s first free-spinning rollercoaster, Storm Chaser.

Other attractions at the park include Al’s Auto Academy, a driving school with electric cars; a water raft ride called Buffalo Falls; and a yet-to-be-revealed attraction called Trekking Tractors.

Richard Mancey, Managing Director of Paultons Park, said the long delay was due to the pause in construction work: “The decision to delay the opening of Tornado Springs to 2021 has been very difficult to make, particularly as so many of our guests have been eagerly looking forward to enjoying the new rides and attractions.

“We know how disappointing this postponement will be, to both our guests and our staff. After eighteen months of hard work, it is very hard to accept that the attraction will not open this year, particularly when it is so close to completion.”

He added: “Everyone who has been involved in bringing Tornado Springs to life has poured their heart and soul into creating a truly spectacular experience, so rest assured it will be worth the wait.”

When completed, Tornado Springs will become Paultons Park’s fifth themed land, along with Critter Creek, Little Africa and Lost Kingdom. The park has stood since 1983 and has since gone on to be the UK’s number one family theme park, being voted TripAdvisor’s best-rated UK amusement park for the fourth year in a row last year. Guests can expect to enjoy the newest addition to the park from Easter 2021 onwards.
