A popular Florida aquarium has unveiled new viewing areas and visitor experiences as part of an ambitious $80 million expansion project.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium expansion provides guests with five times more space than originally offered.
A new state-of-the-art dolphin habitat titled the Ruth and J.O. Stone Dolphin Complex, which houses four rescued bottlenose dolphins previously opened in July – with the new attractions unveiled centred around the mega 1.5 million gallon pool.
Nine large viewing windows offer guests breath-taking underwater and high angle views of the dolphins as they leisurely navigate around the habitat.
A 40 foot wide and 14 foot tall observation terrace is set to be a centrepiece of the viewing areas, providing plenty of space for families to immerse into captivating lives of the angelic species.
A fresh retail experience offering an array of dolphin themed souvenirs, a new spacious café and an enriched ticketing facility has also been revealed as part of the exciting expansion, which also offer panoramic views of Clearwater Bay in the Sunshine State.
Double the education space has also opened, which supports the non-profit aquarium’s vision to provide conservation, insight and research into sick and injured marine life.
Commenting on what to expect in the future, Frank Dame CEO of the Tampa based aquarium said: “This unveiling is just the beginning, we will continue to add new exhibits and experiences to delight and surprise our guests giving you a reason to keep coming back to see what’s new at Clearwater Marine Aquarium.”
