Mall of India set to reopen following extensive renovations

An Indian mega mall is set to resume its first near-normal operations following a turbulent eight months of COVID 19 and major building damages.

Retailtainment centres around the world have felt the devastating impacts of the pandemic, however the DLF Mall of India appears to have taken the brunt of it.

As one of the worst-affected countries through COVID 19, the two million square metre shopping and entertainment hub in the Noida region was forced to close in March.

India’s government gave the facility the go ahead to reopen food shops and other essential retailers in July. However, soon after reopening the mall’s ceiling disastrously collapsed, leaving India’s leading retailtainment centre with no choice but to close for a second time.

Over the last four months extensive repair works has taken part at the Mall of India around the clock, to ensure the seven floors of  more than 300 shops, 75 food outlets and four family entertainment centres are both safe for guests and staff members.

Through the closure, Mall of India’s facilities have also been massively upgraded to fulfil a better experience and one which is COVID safe. The mall’s walkways have been given an extensive renovation, technology has been advanced, and mandatory sanitising stations have been implemented.

Most of the Mall of India’s experiences, including Snow World, Smaaash and FUN CiTY are set to reopen following the makeover this week (Commencing October 12.) An exact open date is yet to be revealed.

Elsewhere, a Tokyo theme park is offering visitors the unique chance to transport their office to the park’s rides and attractions.
