IAAPA Expo Asia moves to Shanghai and reschedules to August 2021

IAAPA Expo Asia 2021 has moved dates and has a new location.

Originally the four day event, aimed at the global attractions sector, was planned to take place in Macao China in June. However due to the continued worldwide impacts of COVID 19 the Expo has been pushed back until August 10-13 2021 – and will now be held in Shanghai.

Its hoped bringing the Expo to a major city will provide easier access for overseas travellers, with many of the world enduring travel barriers due to the pandemic. Its expected that delayed the event by two months will also provide more time for the industry to recover and induce more optimism to its future.

Now being held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), IAAPA officials are busy planning a smooth transition to the new location. Participants are set to enjoy a full day of conferencing on August 10. This will be followed by three additional days of educational sessions, special events and programming, along with IAAPA’s iconic tradeshow floor.

Commenting on the change of plans Hal McEvoy, President and CEO of IAAPA said: “The health and safety of our members and our team remains our top priority. While it is still hard to believe we are still working through global effects of the global pandemic, we are encouraged by the news that the initial vaccines are being administered in locations around the world.

“We know it’s going to take time and the phases of recovery will vary by region, but we are optimistic about the outlook for our industry. During IAAPA Expo Asia we will follow safety guidelines and operational procedures recommended by global health authorities, the SNIEC, and event industry experts.

Adding: “We look forward to returning to Shanghai for IAAPA Expo Asia, and once again bringing the global attractions industry together.”

IAAPA Expo Asia isn’t the only IAAPA event to be affected as a result of the pandemic. Last year, IAAPA cancelled its annual Expo which was set to take place in Orlando Florida. And also just last week (January 11), the first IAAPA EMEA Trade Summit scheduled to take place at Germany’s Europa Park in February 2021 was also postponed.
