Details have been released for the $26.3 million expansion and redevelopment of Holland Community Aquatic Center (HCAC).
Previously, officials at the Michigan attraction promised to refurbish the aging pools, as well as providing more to do for guests who choose to visit while swimming lessons, galas and classes are taking place.
Now, HCAC have announced the new amenities which will be developed as part of the project. These include:
- New water-slide
- Wading pool
- Additional diving pool
- Sauna
- Steam rooms
- Warm-water pool
The lobby, changing rooms and spectator seating are also set to be revamped and extended, as well as on-site parking and drop-off lanes being increased. HCAC believe the extra space will appeal and cater for the additional visitors the attraction is expected to attract.
Commenting on the expansion, Jack Huisingh, HCAC executive director said: “We are excited to share how we have partnered with our construction and design teams to create a world class facility that will allow us to better serve all HCAC visitors,”
“We’re not only meeting each of our promises to provide better access to all visitors but doing so within budget, on-time and on-schedule.”
Built in 1968, HCAC has already undergone an expansion 22 years ago to serve the demand of visitors.
The redevelopment was temporarily halted in Spring this year due to COVID-19, with construction resuming in May. The team running the project estimates the expanded Holland Community Aquatic Center to be completed by 2022.
Elsewhere, a Washington Children’s museum is set to double in size, with a $25 million proposals.
