A next-generation wave pool has been announced as the attraction’s centrepiece, which using cutting-edge technology, will tailor the waves to suit every guests’ desire and ability.

Artistic impression of Southport Cove

Due to the turbulent British weather, chilling on Southport’s beachfront is often reserved to just a few months a year. However, designers at Southport Cove have created attractions for visitors to enjoy sandy beaches even through the chillier months.

The development will feature a 250 metre long golden beach, along with a 360 degree boardwalk and tranquil gardens – where guests will be able to kick back, relax and enjoy panoramic views of the wave pool.

As well as the water-based attractions, the complex is also set to house spa facilities, a four-star hotel, indoor leisure activities and an array of dining experiences.

As well as boosting Southport’s tourism offerings, the project is expected to be a driving force for the region’s economy. Costing £40 million to design and develop, once finished Southport Cove is expected to attraction 150,000 visitors per year, bringing in £20 million per year to the region.

120 new jobs will also become available.

Speaking to Sefton Council, the Founders of Go Surf said: “Southport’s location and existing facilities lend themselves perfectly to the town becoming a true haven for water sports, indoor and outdoor attractions, and wellness. The town benefits greatly from the successful integration of its town centre, marine lake and seafront.

“Our aim is to create a perfect environment where people meet with friends and family, be it to lounge on the beach or in the gardens, catch some waves, relax in the spa, or just grab a coffee and a bite to eat.

Adding: “It’s a real privilege to have this opportunity to do something great for our hometown, we are thrilled to be bringing our unique brand of water-based sport to Southport.

“See you down at Southport Cove soon.’’

Its yet to be revealed when the attraction may open.
