Experience Oxfordshire Strengthens Board With Appointment Of Alexandra Vincent MBE

At Experience Oxfordshire, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Alexandra Vincent MBE to our Board of Directors and Trustees. This appointment reflects our continued commitment to strengthening leadership and broadening expertise across the visitor economy and cultural sectors.

Alex joins the Board with extensive experience in strategic leadership, governance, and cross-sector collaboration, bringing valuable insight into the intersection of culture, research, and economic development.

Bringing Strategic Leadership From The University Of Oxford

In her current role at the University of Oxford, Alex serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Humanities Division and Managing Director of the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. Her responsibilities include overseeing governance, operations, and strategy across one of the University’s major academic divisions, as well as leading the development of cultural, educational and commercial programmes.

This experience provides a strong foundation for supporting our work as a Destination Management Organisation and Local Visitor Economy Partnership, particularly as we continue to align cultural assets with wider visitor economy growth.

Proven Track Record In Creative Industries Development

Prior to joining the University of Oxford, Alex held senior leadership roles within the Arts and Humanities Research Council and UK Research and Innovation. During this time, she played a key role in delivering major national initiatives, including programmes focused on research and development within the creative industries and collaborations between academia and business.

Her contribution to research funding and sector development was recognised with the award of an MBE in 2024. In addition, she is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Royal Society of Arts.

For Experience Oxfordshire, this background brings valuable experience in building partnerships, securing investment and supporting innovation across cultural and creative sectors.

Supporting A Collaborative Visitor Economy

As a VisitEngland-accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnership, our role is to drive sustainable growth across Oxfordshire’s visitor economy through collaboration with partners across business, culture and public sectors.

Alex’s appointment strengthens our ability to connect these sectors, particularly in identifying opportunities where cultural activity and tourism can work together to deliver wider economic and social impact.

Her perspective reinforces the importance of collaboration between tourism and the creative industries, recognising that strong alignment between these areas supports a more resilient and competitive destination.

Building On A Strong Governance Framework

Our Board of Directors and Trustees is drawn from across the local business community, with members contributing their expertise on a voluntary basis. This structure enables us to benefit from a wide range of perspectives while maintaining a clear focus on the county’s strategic priorities.

The addition of Alex to the Board further strengthens this framework, adding depth in areas such as cultural strategy, research and programme delivery.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to develop Oxfordshire’s position as a leading destination, the role of cultural and creative industries remains central to our strategy. Alex’s appointment supports our ambition to build stronger connections across these sectors, ensuring that the visitor economy continues to grow in a productive and sustainable way.

We look forward to working with Alex and drawing on her expertise as we continue to support our partners, advocate for the sector and promote Oxfordshire both nationally and internationally.
