digiLED Awarded Made In Britain Status For ZEUS Power-Saving System

digiLED has been awarded Made in Britain status for digiLED ZEUS, its intelligent power-saving system for giant LED screens.

Invented in the UK by the company’s Head of Technical Tom Mudd, digiLED ZEUS is a globally patented system designed to reduce wasted energy and carbon output across large-format LED installations. Built at its global headquarters in Dorking, Surrey, the technology powers screens down to ZERO power when they are not in use, then brings them back online through a controlled soft-start process.

For venues operating large LED displays, this matters. Stadia, arenas, attractions, immersive spaces, corporate sites and outdoor venues all rely on screens that can use significant energy, even during downtime. digiLED ZEUS® has been developed to address that operational challenge in a practical and measurable way.

The system is now live across more than 360 installations worldwide, helping digiLED clients reduce unnecessary power use while supporting the long-term reliability of their LED assets.

Built In Britain For Global Screen Operators

digiLED was founded on British engineering experience, and its team has spent more than two decades designing and delivering bespoke LED screen projects around the world. Many of its people have worked at the forefront of large-screen design and installation since before LED became the dominant technology for major display applications.

Receiving Made in Britain status is therefore an important milestone for the business. It recognises both the origin of digiLED ZEUS® and the decision to manufacture key units in the UK.

At its Surrey headquarters, digiLED produce single-way ZEUS head-ends as well as bespoke units for specific client requirements. Keeping this work close to its technical team allows it to maintain tight quality control, respond to client needs and reduce reliance on long-distance freight for these components.

Why Large LED Screens Need Smarter Power Control

Many LED screens are left in a pseudo-standby condition overnight, often showing a black video signal or test pattern. In that state, a screen can still draw a substantial amount of power while delivering no audience value.

Over the life of a screen, those unused hours can result in major wasted cost and avoidable carbon emissions. digiLED ZEUS was created to solve that problem by giving operators a safe and reliable way to shut screens down fully when they are not required.

The technology is built for screens of different sizes, shapes and applications. It is also designed to protect internal components from unnecessary stress during power cycling, while providing analytics, reporting and additional features for outdoor operation.

Proven Results In Stadium Environments

Huddersfield Town AFC installed digiLED ZEUS on its main in-stadium screen before the 2025 season, using the system as part of its wider focus on energy reduction.

Based on current energy costs, the main screen at Accu Stadium is expected to save more than £125,000 in wasted energy over seven years through digiLED ZEUS, while cutting carbon emissions by 138 tonnes.

For sports venues, attractions and live event spaces, those figures show the scale of the opportunity. Energy reduction is no longer only a sustainability issue. It is also a commercial and operational priority.

Supporting The Future Of Large-Format Display

Since 2003, digiLED has worked with clients across sports, attractions, retail, hospitality, broadcast and immersive environments. Its teams support projects from bespoke design through to installation and long-term service.

Clients can see digiLED screens and ZEUS in action at The Pixel Depot showrooms in the UK and Las Vegas. As LED display networks continue to grow in size and complexity, we believe smarter power management will become an essential part of responsible screen operation. Made in Britain status for digiLED ZEUS® is an achievement we are proud of, and a clear signal of our continued focus on practical UK-built technology for global display operators.
