With the influence of new trends and visitor needs, museums and cultural organisations are always rethinking and adapting the way in which they operate. However, the unprecedented impacts of COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement have made museums reimagination process much more forced, rather than developing organically. A visit to Connecting Culture’s Management and Strategy Theatre links you to industry experts, who share their wealth of knowledge on how museums can reimagine their operations in the current unprecedent times and in the future.

Connecting Culture was privileged to welcome David Anderson, Director of National Museum Wales to our virtual stage. The museum guru was keen to share how the organisation’s seven museums are collaborating with charities, ethnic-minority communities, and a youth group to address the cultural imbalance within the organisation’s extensive collections. As museums in Wales begin to reopen, Anderson addresses how visitors will see a change in National Museums Wales’ extensive exhibits. In Anderson’s words, ‘a museum and contents are just the shell, its nourishment can be found in the communities’ To take inspiration from Anderson’s work and knowledge, we urge you to visit Cultural Democracy In Practice.
David Anderson has been the Director of National Museum Wales for 10 years
