The UK’s Expo Commissioner Charles Hendry said: “Expos are a chance to showcase the best of the UK’s creativity and innovation to a global audience. It’s no exaggeration to say that an Expo can make a designer’s name with world-wide exposure of their work. We want a Pavilion that stands out, providing a unique experience for visitors and which can help us to deliver on our ambitious business programme.”
The theme of the 2017 Expo in Astana is ‘Future Energy’, with three sub-themes: ‘Reducing Carbon Emissions’; ‘Living Energy Efficiency’, looking at ways in which people can live as they do now while using less energy; and ‘Energy for All’, providing low cost and reliable energy for everyone.
The competition aims to find a Pavilion design that demonstrates UK leadership in developing solutions to future energy production and consumption challenges in a rapidly growing world, whilst also capturing the public imagination.
Astana 2017 runs for 93 days from 10 June until 10 September during which the UK, will showcase the best of its innovation and creativity across these Future Energy related sectors.
Design teams are encouraged to find out more, including terms and conditions, read the full brief and enter the competition here.
