A new drive-thru experience, that transports fans of the hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ back in time to 1985, is coming to Downtown LA. The experience puts guests in the shoes of a Hawkins resident, immersing them into the thrilling world of Stranger Things, and all that comes with it.
‘Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience’ will take groups of 24 cars on a spooky tour of various Hawkins locations, including the Starcourt Mall, Russian Labs, and even into the Upside Down. The attraction is set to feature mind-blowing audio and visual effects, produced in partnership between Netflix, Fever, and Secret Cinema.
The hour-long theatrical adventure directs drivers to multiple pit-stops, where they will park for extended amounts of time to watch the story unfold. Guests will see familiar friend and foes going about their lives in Hawkins, before moving on to the next ‘chapter.’
“Stranger Things has always been larger than life and we wanted to flip the world upside down for our fans,” said Greg Lombardo, head of experiences at Netflix, in a statement. “So buckle up like Billy is driving, keep your eyes on the neon lights, and steer clear of the shadows because there’s no telling who or what you might come across in Downtown Los Angeles this October. Whatever you do, don’t get out of your car!”
Netflix have announced that they have taken precautions to create a safe environment amid the COVID-19 pandemic, where guests are required to drive and stay in their car for the duration of the show.
The drive-thru attraction will be taking place starting from October, and will be based in Downtown LA. Tickets start from $59 per car, and go on sale August 26, although there is a waiting list for tickets.
Filming for the eagerly awaited fourth series of Stranger Things was brought to an abrupt halt in March, due to the public health concerns brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the new season, there is, as of yet, no word on when it will be released. Stateside fans of the series, will have to settle for the drive-thru experience, for now at least.
