Alton Towers Resort Reopening on 4th July

Alton Towers Resort has announced that it will open its doors once again next month. The announcement follows the successful opening of the Resort’s gardens, on the 6th of June. The reopening is in line with the Government’s latest guidance on the reopening of visitor attractions and hospitality businesses.

On July 4th the theme park will reopen, along with the majority of its outdoor rides and attractions. Restrictions will be in place to limit the number of guests within the park each day, ensuring that those who are on the park have a fun, and safe, experience.

Earlier this month Alton Towers Resort released information on how they planned to reopen safely once restrictions were lifted. Guests will have to pre-book tickets online in advance, in order to ensure the number of guests in the park does not exceed the quota. Thermometer checks will take place upon entry to the park, and those who are beneath the desired temperature will be granted entry, anyone exceeding it will be turned away.

All guests over the age of 6 will be asked to wear face coverings or masks while on rides and attractions, and there will be additional PPE clothing provided for all staff members on the park. Staff will also be required to undertake enhanced cleaning duties. Distance markers will be dotted around the park, preventing a build-up of guests in any one area. Hand sanitiser stations will also be scattered throughout the resort.

Some indoor attractions will remain closed until further notice. Guests have already been enjoying the 550 acres of landscaped gardens within the resort, with plenty of space to ensure guests are maintaining a safe distance.

Emma Catterall, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “It is fantastic that we can now confirm that our Theme Park and Accommodation will reopen from 4th July.  We can’t wait to get back to doing what we do best, and we’re working hard to make sure that we’re implementing the new hygiene and distancing measures in a way that will still allow our guests to enjoy a memorable, fun visit to Alton Towers Resort.”

The resort’s hotels and accommodation are also expected to reopen on July 4th, following the latest announcement from the UK Government. Similar social distancing and cleaning measures will be in place upon reopening.
