Alexander Pushkin Literary Theme Park Proposed

Russia awaits the commencement of an Alexander Pushkin Literary theme park in 2023.  This major attraction strives to amalgamate the love for fairytales, interest in Russian literature and a fascination of theme parks to relay something for everyone at one place.

Jora Vision, a design company with an illustrious experience of 25 years in ‘Themed Attraction Design & Build’ envisions a theme park inspired by the fairytales and poems penned by the founder of modern Russian literature, Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.

Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin is arguably the greatest Russian poet with a remarkably vast scope of writing. Initiating the tradition of Russian literature, he is a widely celebrated writer familiar to anyone who is interested in Russian literature.

News has it that this theme park will open in St Petersburg in 2023, its design drawing inspiration from the fantasy land of Lukomorye, ‘where many wonderful stories take place’ mentioned in Pushkin’s famed poem, Ruslan and Ludmila.

One of the designers, Mrs Goloverova, is already running Hotel Natali, named after Pushkin’s wife with an added desire to ‘develop a magical place where one can step into the fairy tales of A.S. Pushkin in a modern, immersive and spectacular way, yet with the typical flair of Russian folklore and tradition’. This theme park paying an ode to the great writer aims to bring his stories to life in an immersive and characteristically Russian way.

The experiences will include an “immersive walkthrough experience based on Pushkin’s life” as well as two dark rides that are unique to Jora Vision.

The Lukomorye Park spanning over 17,000 square meters will draw inspiration from Pushkin’s words. The CEO of Jora Vision, Jan Maarten de Raad, said in a recent press release, “We love unique and meaningful stories, and are excited to harness our skills to bring these local stories to life to an audience which is not yet very familiar with the concept of theme parks and immersive attractions,”

The park will be open all year round and will consist of three main zones, a palace, a city and a harbour with a singular goal to incorporate “experiences and attractions” that Pushkin mentions in his works. An attempt to bring the writer’s works to life through an immersive customer experience, the park will also feature a fairytale forest, a swan lake and a typical Russian funfair market or ‘Jarmarka’.

The CEO of Jora Vision aims to “pave new ways for theme parks to bring their local stories alive”. She describes the idea behind her company, “We love unique and meaningful stories, and are excited to harness our skills to bring these local stories to life to an audience which is not yet very familiar with the concept of theme parks and immersive attractions.”

The park’s estimated cost came to $16.2 million in 2019. This interactive theme park will have actors playing the part of famous heroes from a number of Pushkin’s works. Visitors can look forward to performances, carnivals and masterclasses. A complete entertainment package celebrating Russian folklore, Lukomorye will be open for public use three years from now.
