Abu Dhabi Will Be Home to the Middle East’s Largest Aquarium

The UAE seems to have a thing for grandiose and ostentatious structures. Whether it is the tallest buildings, the largest and most lavish hotels, or now, the largest aquarium; the UAE has it all.  Abu Dhabi will soon be home to the largest aquarium in the entire Middle East.

The facility will be named “The National Aquarium”. It will house over 33,000 marine creatures. These diverse creatures have been ethically sourced from water bodies around the world. The venue will be managed under the supervision and expertise of 80 marine specialists and experts that will ensure that the aquarium provides its visitors with an outstanding and unforgettable peek into the marine world.

Besides being a world-class facility for the visitors, the aquarium will serve the extremely important purpose of highlighting the significance of conserving the marine world and the water bodies around the world. The aquarium will take the visitor through several themed zones that will not only provide an insightful and mesmerising glance into marine life but will also go on to emphasize the need to step up the conservation efforts that are essential to protect the planet.

The size and scale of the aquarium are very much in line with the tradition set by the UAE. The aquarium is spread across an area which is almost the size of a football field.

There are altogether 10 separate precincts that the entire facility is divided into. Each caters to a particular theme related to the water world. The visitor will, therefore, get to experience an in-depth look into the different facets of the marine world by going through each of these zones.

The aquarium is expected to draw over a million visitors from all over the world every year. The facility will attract almost 50,000 school children each year. The 250 different species of marine life will be up for display throughout the year while the 80 marine experts create a world-class aquarium experience that the visitors will never forget.

This grandiose structure is yet another feather in its cap as it will help Abu Dhabi in its ambitions to diversify its economy and enhance its tourism potential. There have been a number of investments that the emirate has made as of late into the development of entertainment, leisure, and recreational facilities across the capital. This world-class aquarium fits perfectly into its larger plans.

The team that has been hired to bring this world-class facility to life is noted for its professionalism, attention to detail, and expertise in building and managing marine-related structures. The general manager of the project has worked on a number of aquarium facilities before, including the Dubai Aquarium. The aquarium is 70% complete and will open to the public in autumn 2020.
